Abstract
Education has long been regarded as one of the most powerful instruments for the empowerment of women. Literature often reflects the role of education in shaping women’s identity, consciousness, and social position. This research paper examines the theme of education and women’s empowerment in the novels of George Eliot and Manju Kapur. Eliot’s fiction reflects the limitations imposed upon women’s intellectual growth in Victorian England, while Kapur’s novels portray education as a means of liberation and self-realization in contemporary Indian society.
